Valiant Valleyzens’ Celebrating the 3 V’s

The first day of Aklan Valley High School’s Vim Vigor Victory was held at the ABL Sports Complex last August 16, 2018. The arena was filled with Valleyzens, teachers, parents, alumni and even students from other schools. It is simply astonishing to think that the students of Aklan Valley are not just the only ones anticipating the event. Just like every other year, the morning program is starts with the parade, where students line up according to their year level. In the front of the line is the Supreme Student government, followed by the freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, Vanguards and Commanders respectively. Loud bangings of drums and rhythms of lyres surrounded the outskirts of ABL Sports Complex, which really hyped up everyone for the event. The parade is just a single rotation outside of the arena, so it did not take up a lot of time. After the parade,  the students entered the complex and witnessed the flaming of the torch and the raising of the flags of the faculty and each year level. This activity boosted each of the participant’s morale and motivation.

After a speech given by our dearest principal, T. Lina F. Teston-Ortega, the program proper started. The first contest of the morning was the pageant, The Search for Mr. Ms. Valleyzen 2018. It was truly a hard-fought battle and the winners truly deserved their titles. Then came the most awaited competition in the morning, which is the Cheerdance Competition. Each of the year levels did not falter nor showed weakness and truly showed why each of them deserved the title. The highlight was the Vanguards’ performance. Though they had to go through a whole lot of obstacles compared to the others, they still overcame those trials and gave satisfactory results, ones that you will never expect what they had to go through before executing the performance.

Truly, AVHS’ Vim Vigor and Vicotry is not just an event awaited by the Valley, but of the whole province as well!39910348_1116270118532071_4828885929085108224_n

Forbidden Love is the Best Form of Love

Forbidden Love is the Best Form of Love

What is better than having two cute fictional boys? Those two cute boys dating each other, doing lovey dovey stuff and just doing stuff any normal couple would do. I have what they call a “weird” obsession in BL (Boys’ Love), or the more specific term, yaoi. As what my family and close friends know, I am a huge fan of anime (a Japanese term meaning cartoon. Though its name implies cartoons, it has significant differences from Western animated cartoons). I like to watch slice of life, action, smut, vampire and drama genre, but yaoi takes the cake. My friends often claim that my interest is slowly becoming an addiction, but I could not care less. Watching two boys fall in love is like the entrance of heaven for me. I like it when the two of them started to hate each other first, and slowly develop feelings for each other as the story progresses. My favorite yaoi anime is Owari no Seraph, and my favorite yaoi manga is Killing Stalking. Though my passion for yaoi is strong, I only limit myself to 2D animated characters, real life pairing of boys is still a conflict for me.

I have only started being a fujoshi (yaoi enthusiast) when I was in my 3rd year in high school. I have been shipping MikaYuu since first year high school but the passion sparked within me in my Junior years. Perhaps it was because of Yuri on Ice!!! The anime’s yaoi content was so absurd that you would get addicted to it. I started wanting for more and dug deeper into the fandom, to where I am now. Thinking back, did I regret that decision? No, I do not.
